The Salice Salentino Riserva Santa Croce by Vigneti Reale bears the name of the Basilica of Lecce, a masterpiece of Salento baroque. The Reale agricultural company is located in the municipality of Cellino San Marco, between the provinces of Brindisi and Lecce. It extends over a flat area of 180 hectares, of which approximately 100 are planted with vineyards and the rest with olive groves. the Ionian Sea is 20 km to the west, the Adriatic Sea 10 km to the east, the temperature range is therefore guaranteed by the fresh sea winds; the company soils are sandy-loamy, reddish in colour, with little limestone. Santa Croce is composed of 80% Negroamaro and 20% Malvasia Nera. The grapes are harvested between the end of August and the beginning of September, they ferment in steel with temperature control, then the wine ages for 12 months in French oak barriques and at least 6 months in the bottle.
SALICE SALENTINO RESERVE SANTA CROCE VIGNETI REALE: TASTING
The Salice Salentino Riserva Santa Croce by Vigneti Reale is a splendid garnet color. On the nose it offers quince jelly, cherry in alcohol, black pepper and spontaneous mint; the sip is broad, enveloping, with chiseled tannin, good citrus freshness and pleasant flavor. The combination with tonnarello cacio e pepe is very interesting, the one with grilled meat is more traditional.
Estimated between Monday 5 May and Friday 9 May.
