The Lucido Prio by Donnafugata carries the historic name of Catarratto in Sicily. The word "prio" is also part of the Sicilian dialect and means joy, celebrated on the label with the unexpected and authentic cheerfulness of a woman sitting on the beach at sunset on the first day of summer, "kissed" by a butterfly that lands on her face. We are in southwestern Sicily, between 200 and 400 meters above sea level, on clayey-sandy soils rich in nutrients; the climate is mild, with strong day-night temperature swings. The grapes are harvested in the first decade of September and fermented in stainless steel at controlled temperatures; the wine then matures in tank for about 2 months and an additional 3 in bottle.
CATARRATTO LUCIDO PRIO DONNAFUGATA: THE TASTING
The Lucido Prio by Donnafugata shows a bright straw yellow color. On the nose, it is fragrant, with pleasant citrus notes of cedar and grapefruit combined with delicate floral hints of elderflower and jasmine, along with a slight touch of flint. The palate is quite fresh with a perfect correspondence between taste and aroma. It pairs wonderfully with lemon chicken strips!
