The bitter almond liqueur, in Portuguese "Amêndoa Amarga", is one of the most famous and appreciated liqueurs of Portugal. Its production was born in the Algarve region, following the recovery and re-evaluation of little-used bitter almonds. Crushed, marinated and then distilled, the bitter almonds, previously so little valued, were transformed into a high quality product. The recipe for Famosa almond liqueur dates back to ancient times. Flavored with bitter almonds, this original formula is perfect both as an aperitif and as an optimal finish to a special meal. It can be served in cocktails, accompanied by lemon juice and ice. It should be served very fresh. The taste is sweet but slightly bitter on the finish. An enveloping almond scent.
