The Chardonnay Sanct Valentin from San Michele Appiano is produced from 100% Chardonnay grapes selected from the best company vineyards located in the municipality of Appiano (BZ). Here, the soil is calcareous-gravelly with morainic sediments, and the altitude is between 450 and 550 meters above sea level. The aging process lasted for 11 months on the lees (a practice that gives body and greater aromaticity to the wine) in barrique-tonneaux and an additional 6 months in steel tanks. It is one of the symbolic wines of the San Michele Appiano winery, like all the wines in the Sanct Valentin line, which come from selected grapes and are characterized by finesse and longevity potential.
CHARDONNAY SANCT VALENTIN SAN MICHELE APPIANO: TASTING
The Alto Adige DOC Chardonnay Sanct Valentin from San Michele Appiano shines in the glass with a straw yellow color and greenish reflections. Intense notes of ripe yellow-fleshed fruit are joined by delicate toasted hints and vanilla that reveal the wood aging. With good structure, on the palate it is full and enveloping, made vigorous by exciting minerality. The fruity finish is long and very pleasant with a subtle smoky trail. A white wine with a versatile nature, it pairs well with fresh and semi-aged cheeses, as well as with vegetarian dishes and seafood recipes. It is also worth trying with first or second courses based on white meats.
