Firriato's Etna Rosso Le Sabbie dell'Etna comes from Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio grapes grown in the territory of Castiglione di Sicilia (CT) in the vineyards of Tenuta Cavanera Etnea. Here the vineyards stand on sandy-loam soils of volcanic origin, with a high draining capacity, at an average altitude of 700 meters above sea level. The winemaking process took place in thermo-controlled stainless steel tanks and involved a 14-day alcoholic fermentation at a temperature of 26-27 °C. The refinement took place for 12 months in 12HL Slavonian oak barrels and for a further 6 months in the bottle.
THE SANDS OF ETNA ROSSO FIRRIATO: TASTING
Le Sabbie dell'Etna Rosso by Firriato shines in the glass with a ruby red color with purple hues. On the nose, penetrating hints of ripe plum, wild berry jam and potpourri harmoniously intertwine with delicate notes of dark spices. The sip is rich and balanced, supported by a graceful tannic texture and a well-integrated minerality that persists in the finish played once again on the fruit. At the table it goes well with cured meats as well as first and second courses based on vegetables and red meats.
