Colterenzio's Santa Maddalena is part of that line of "classic" wines that this cooperative winery produces from traditional varieties in purity, or almost pure. St. Magdalener is a traditional blend of the warm area around Bolzano, composed of at least 85% Schiava Gentile, and the remaining 15% from other native grapes (Lagrein), almost always Lagrein. In the case of Colterenzio, as for many other companies, the percentage of Lagrein is 5% and the two grapes are coplanted in the vineyard, on sandy and alluvial soils, with a prevalence of quartz. After the traditional fermentation, the malolactic fermentation is carried out in steel (a fermentation carried out by lactic bacteria which transforms the malic acid into lactic acid, modifying the acid structure of the wine and making it softer) before a 4-month refinement in cement.
SANTA MADDALENA COLTERENZIO: TASTING
Colterenzio's Santa Maddalena has a brilliant and crystalline ruby red colour; on the nose it is a bouquet of red berries and acidic flowers, such as rose, iris and violet, with light hints of fresh balms and spices. The drink is elegant, precise and thirst-quenching. To be enjoyed refreshed, in the company of speck, mountain butter, cucumbers and Schüttelbrot.
Estimated between Friday 2 May and Thursday 8 May.
